Reese Witherspoon to Play Peggy Lee

Playing country music queen June Carter Cash earned her an Academy Award, so it's no surprise that Reese Witherspoon would return to the country music well and take on the role of jazz singer/songwriter/actress Peggy Lee in an upcoming biopic about Lee. Witherspoon is a prime choice for the role, because she is born and raised in the South.
Witherspoon has secured the rights to Lee's story from the late singer's estate and she will serve as one of the film's producers, while Nora Ephron, the queen of the chick flick, will write and direct. The film will look at Lee's life, both professional and personal. Her entertainment career spanned nearly seven decades so that's a lot of source material to make a fine piece of Oscar-friendly drama.
What is your favorite Reese Witherspoon role? I like her in Election.
