Reggae pioneer Sugar Minott has passed away. He was only 54-years-old, but his legacy of helping to popularize reggae will endure.
The singer died Saturday at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Jamaica's capital, Kingston, his wife Maxine Stowe said Sunday. She did not disclose the cause of death. He had cancelled performances in Canada after suffering form chest pains two months ago.
Completely unrelated trivia: Kingston is also the name of Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's firstborn son, and they took his name from the Jamaican capital!
Were you a fan of Minott? If you are a casual reggae fan, did this news make you want to check out his voice?
