Ricky Martin Is Being Sued

Latin pop dynamo and father of two Ricky Martin is being sued for $10 million! Wow. Why? He has been slapped with a lawsuit over his 2014 World Cup song "Vida."
Here's the intel on the suit: Luis Adrian Cortes Ramos, a former finalist on Idol Puerto Rico, alleges that he submitted his version of the track as part of SuperSong, a contest Martin and Sony Music executives launched late last year to find a new tune for the FIFA World Cup championships in Brazil.
Ramos' suit says that the contest promised that "the winning composer would be recognized and he would be given credit for his work." The credit never materialized for him, as he feels his song was dismissed, but then stolen and used by Martin.
According to WENN, Ramos says that his track did not advance to the Final Five for the SuperSong contest in January, but then heard the song, which he says is his, as released by Martin, which shocked him.
His legal team stated that "Ramos was surprised, disillusioned and suffered mental anguish because the song was almost identical to the one he composed. Until that moment, Martin was an idol for Ramos."
Martin's legal team is currently investigating the matter.
This happens all the time with pop stars...
"Vida" is credited to Martin, Salaam Remi and Elijah King and was produced by Remi. It appears on the One Love, One Rhythm: The 2014 FIFA World Cup Official Album.
