A feature film version of the popular 1980s series The A-Team, which followed the exploits of a ragtag Army Special Forces troupe on the run for a crime they didn't commit, is finally taking shape. Fox will distribute the film, while directors Ridley Scott and Tony Scott will produce via their Scott Free banner. Show creator Stephen J. Cannell will also be involved in a producer capacity.
The desire to make an A-Team film has been long standing, with several actors, directors, and writers attached at one point or another. Smokin' Aces director and screenwriter Joe Carnahan has been hired to direct the movie.
Fox has already set June 11, 2010 as the release date for the film, indicating its hopes and ambitions for the project to speed along production. No information about casting decisions has been revealed. The original show is credited with making Mr. T a household name, but a possible cameo from the actor has yet to be confirmed.
