Rihanna donated $1.75 million to a Barbados hospital. The donation to Queen Elizabeth Hospital is being used to purchase necessary equipment to keep the radiotherapy wing, now named after her late grandmother Clara "Dolly" Braithwaite, in fighting shape, so to speak.

"This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program ... I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados. This was all done to save lives or at least extend them," the singer, who is from the area, said in a statement provided to E!

The donation has lead to the new name: The Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine.
