"Let me stay lost in paradise," urges Rihanna on "Lost in Paradise", the standout conclusion to her seventh album, Unapologetic [iTunes link].
It's a swooping anthem replete with dance floor synths cycling in and out and her mind-blowing delivery carrying a massive hook. Rihanna seamlessly siphon electronic dance music bliss into soulful pop for her biggest and best album yet.
"Phresh Out the Runway" blazes with instantly infectious energy as does the shining and shimmering first single "Diamonds". Eminem throws down a skittering verse over chopped and screwed transmissions on the strangely sexy "Numb", and once again Rihanna belts out a blinding and big refrain. David Guetta's production on "Right Now" makes for a global club firestarter that's bound to get bodies moving from Los Angeles all the way to Dubai.
Another gem, the appropriately titled "Nobody's Business", sees Rihanna and Chris Brown trading love struck verses that simply glisten. The tradeoff between them is both seductive and staggering. Everything culminates on "Lost in Paradise" though, and it's a number that reaffirms Rihanna's status as a pop goddess amongst the likes of Whitney Houston and Madonna.
Unapologetic is purely "Paradise" in every way.
