Like metal? Like art? Then head on over to Roadrunner's official site and peep the iconic hard rock/metal label's feature on the Top 10 Roadrunner-released album covers of all time, as selected by the staffers. Each day for the next week-and-a-half, a new cover will be unveiled, counting down from 10. There have been iconic, blasphemous, painted, photographed, found and commissioned artworks used for these album covers and several of the artists comment on the artwork and its place in time and what it means or meant, looking back. In a day and age when downloading is what everyone does and album artwork is becoming, well, a lost art, this feature reminds longtime music fans about the beauty of the CD booklet and its images, most notably, the album cover itself.

Bookmark this page, and check back to see if any of your favorites made the cut. And what if they didn't? Well that's the joy of the web. You can smash away at your keyboard, posting comments and arguing with other web-o-philes until you give yourself a case of carpal tunnel syndrome and your fingers become locked in a permanent curl! There's a lot of visually arresting covers from bands like Slipknot, Nickelback, Killswitch Engage, Type O Negative, Sepultura, Fear Factory, 36 Crazyfists, Glassjaw and Opeth over the years. How could all those amazing covers be narrowed down to just 10? We're sure it wasn't easy.
