Robert Rodriguez to Relaunch Predator Franchise
Director Robert Rodriguez will relaunch the classic 1980s Predator franchise for Fox. The director wrote the new film, Predators, which will feature the dreadlocked alien from the 1987 hit film. The brand has been wildly popular in recent years, with DVDs racking up sales after the successful, 2004-released Alien Vs. Predator.Rodriguez will also direct Machete, based on a character that appeared in one of the faux trailers in his Grindhouse film. The film will start shooting in June in Austin. Danny Trejo will play the title character, a former Federale Mexican who is now a day laborer. He is double-crossed by a corrupt senator and displays a gift for retribution and sharp knives. Rodriguez wrote the film's script and will produce.
