ARTISTdirect.com sat down with Robert Schwartzman, frontman for the band Rooney, who just issued his first solo platter, Double Capricorn.
This is not just another solo record from an artist in an alt rock, either! It has a charitable element to it, as well. All proceeds from Double Capricorn are donated to the Tibertan Healing Fund, a cause close to Schwartzman's heart.
In our chat, he admits "I didn't know what the record would be like when I started it. That's the beauty of making a record on your own. It's up to you. I like that pressure."
He spoke about his time living in Tibet, where he got to see how other people lived and how many humans from other cultures don't have the chances we have here in the US. He is donating to the Tibetan Healing Fund, because it's a cause that is important to him, since "the man who started it is an interesting person. I learned a lot from him. I lived with him on the monastery, got to see the birthing center he built for $90,000." Schwartzman hopes his donations can help build another birthing center.
