The Associated Press reports that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame plans to celebrate its 15th birthday with an exhibit of photos taken of Elvis Presley in 1956 by Alfred Wertheimer. The photo exhibit will open September 13 at the hall. The King turned 21 in 1956, so the photos focus on a young and virile, curled lip Elvis.
The photos place Presley in public and in private as he started to break through nationally. Visitors to the photo exhibit will also be able to view a brand new display of approximately 30 artifacts on loan from Presley's Graceland archives, among them a shirt and belt the singer wore for 1970 rehearsals, and a Memphis, Tennessee proclamation for a 1961 Elvis Presley Day.
What is your favorite Elvis era? The war years? The jumpsuit and aviator glasses years? The leather jumpsuit comeback special years? Me? Well, I love 'em all.
