The Associated Press reports that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will open the world's first exhibit devoted to rock's most influential female artists. The show opens May 13th at the Hall in Cleveland and will feature the likes of Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Melissa Etheridge and, of course, Lady Gaga. Clearly, this will be an eclectic estrogen exhibit.
"Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power" will spotlight more than 50 female artists and fill two floors of the hall with artifacts and video telling the story of how women have shaped the history of popular music. Throughout the year, the museum will offer educational programming on the role women have played in rock 'n' roll. Gaga, God love her, is a pop star, not a rock star. Or maybe she really is the pop world's rock star. See that -- I just convinced myself.
The exhibit will be kicked off with a May 14th benefit concert. Performers will include Cyndi Lauper and Wanda Jackson.
Will you make a sojourn to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in (hello!) Cleveland to see the "Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power" exhibit? Which women rock your world?
