The Who's Roger Daltrey and Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant are philanthropists, in addition to their hard-earned status as classic rock legends. The British duo have launched UCLA Daltrey/Townshend Teen & Young Adult Cancer Program.
The center is a new charity that the pair, along with Who guitarist Pete Townshend, hopes will change the medical culture which currently categorizes patients as either adults or children and doesn't specialize for teens! That's not fair. Anyone who has dealt with teenagers knows they are a group unto themselves, complete with very specific needs. The threesome are looking out for the teens of today. Kudos!
For years, Daltrey and Townshend have been supporting England's Teenage Cancer Trust, which has established 19 cancer units for teens the UK.
Daltrey was reported as saying, "Adolescent care up until now has been a teenage wasteland." He is obviously quoting "Baba O'Reilly" there!
What do you think of this endeavor between Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey + Pete Townshend? It's fucking rad, right?
