If everything's always in the process of becoming, Rogue Wave frontman Zach Rogue is bringing new synchronicity to the idea. Delusions of Grand Fur, the band's sixth full length release (out 4/29 via Easy Sound records) is easily its least predictable, where ambient synth tones, mottled textures, and electronic beats stand in for the breezy, acoustic gems fans have long come to expect. In a sense, it's as if he really has gone rogue, all the while capitalizing on the spontaneity of an actual rogue wave.
The Oakland-based musician discusses the idea further in this chat with ARTISTdirect's Gwendolyn Elliott, and shares other thoughts about the new album, his collaboration with his longtime bandmate Pat Spurgeon, and the freedom that comes with going rogue.
