This news is best served for music industry wannabes and artists!
Royalty Exchange, an online auction marketplace for music and entertainment royalties, and Lipsky Music LLC, the parent company of independent record label Loud & Proud Records led by industry veteran Tom Lipsky, have teamed up for strategic partnership that will incorporate the innovative financial resources of Royalty Exchange into the music company's comprehensive array of artist services. Royalty Exchange also announced that Lipsky has joined its Board of Advisors.
Labels under Lipsky's direction in the past (CMC International Records, Sanctuary Records Group) have been among the market leaders in the veteran artist space, achieving Gold and Platinum with Neil Young, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss, The Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic, Iron Maiden, Styx, Megadeth, Bad Company and more. In a previous joint venture with Roadrunner Records, Loud & Proud was responsible for new albums by Rush, Lenny Kravitz, Rob Zombie, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and The Steve Miller Band. Loud & Proud's current roster includes critically-acclaimed singer/songwriter Willie Nile, supergroup rock band The Winery Dogs, Seattle's artistic envelope-pushers Walking Papers and classic rockers Starship featuring Mickey Thomas.
Royalty Exchange offers artists enhanced flexibility, choice and control regarding one of their most valuable assets – royalties, enabling songwriters, artists and producers the option of liquidating any percentage of a royalty asset in order to raise capital that traditionally has only been available through loans or advances, often at high interest rates. Royalties are packaged as an alternative investment and sold through a secure online auction platform, generating sale prices many times higher than the average annual income they earn.
"Loud & Proud offers artists true and transparent global partnerships, along with the opportunity to enjoy ownership of the music that they create," states Lipsky. "We want to provide the creative community with innovative and flexible ways to maximize the value of their assets. This alliance with Royalty Exchange does exactly that, and it is a perfect extension of our artist-label business model."
Royalty Exchange is the first company in the music industry to offer royalty valuation and sales alternatives to artists, and is also a pioneer in the concept of securitization of song royalties. The company is developing a model that will allow buyers to purchase shares of song royalties, potentially driving the market value of those assets even higher. Loud & Proud Records is the first music label to incorporate Royalty Exchange services into its operations as an artist resource.
Anyone plan to work in the music biz?
