Ryan Adams Appearance at Stonehenge Is Called Off

As we reported a couple weeks back, Ryan Adams committed himself to an unusual performance at Stonehenge in June. But yesterday, the show was canceled, and an imploding drummer had nothing to do with it.
It seems that the Salisbury International Arts Festival canceled the show because of safety concerns. The organizers were concerned that non-ticket purchasers would watch the show from a nearby road—which, apparently, must be a huge safety issue in the U.K.. "We are very sorry that Ryan Adams will not be able to perform at Stonehenge, but the demand for tickets was both unprecedented and unforeseen, and we have to put public safety first," said Stonehenge director Peter Carson.
"We have worked with Salisbury International Arts Festival to try and identify a suitable alternative, and have offered to make available another English Heritage site, but we appreciate that it would be hard to find an appropriate substitute for such a unique venue."
