English singer-songwriter Sam Smith unleashed his debut album In the Lonely Hour back in 2014 and quickly shot to fame. Then, after he released "Writing's on the Wall" as the lead single from the James Bond film Spectre in 2015, there has been nothing — it has been very much all quiet on the Sam Smith recording front. Today, nearly two (long) years later, we finally have news about fresh music, direct from the man himself.
In a note Smith posted on Twitter, he revealed:
"To my beautiful fans,
"First of all I want to say thank you. Thank you for being so patient and for letting me have the past year to really escape into my mind & write music so freely. I feel so rejuvenated and have so many stories I can't wait to tell you.
"I have missed you all desperately, and a day hasn't gone by when I haven't been looking at all your comments & dreaming of singing with you all again.
"The wait is so nearly over. Something is coming very very very soon.
"I am scared & excited at the same time. I've poured my soul and heart into this record.
"Love you all, and see you in the not so distant future."
Smith also tweeted photos of new billboards posted across London and Los Angeles this week, covered with five simple, but exciting words: "Sam Smith, September 8." So even though information still remains scarce about the project, it seems like that ‘record' will be coming soon and that something will be happening in just one week. With just 5 words and twitter post. But we couldn't be more excited...
