Samuel L. Jackson excels at playing bad asses, so it's no surprise that the actor will play the villain in Columbia's remake of the 1985 cult kung fu comedy The Last Dragon. The original was produced by Motown legend Berry Gordy.
Jackson will step into the shoes of the late Julius J. Carry III, who passed away earlier this year, as the baddie Sho'Nuff. Dallas Jackson is writing the screenplay and producing the film. The plot will be updated but will retain the central storyline about a young martial arts student who traipses through the mean streets of New York City in order to become the Last Dragon, which is regarded as the highest level of accomplishment in the field. The studio hopes to release the film next year to coincide with Motown's 50th anniversary.
