Scott Weiland Hints At An STP Reunion

If a Miami Herald interview with Scott Weiland is to be believed, "we should be on the lookout for an STP reunion in the coming months." In case you forgot, STP stands for Stone Temple Pilots, Weiland's on-again/off-again band from the '90s right on through the Shangri-La Dee Da LP and a rather nasty breakup in 2002. (The last show of STP's fall 2002 tour almost ended in a fistfight between Weiland and guitarist Dean DeLeo.)
Several factors may have led to this supposed reconciliation. For one thing, Dean and his brother, bassist Robert DeLeo, no longer have a side project to work on—Army of Anyone went on hiatus last May when frontman Richard Patrick decided to focus on writing a new Filter record. And then there's the issue of Weiland not getting along with his Velvet Revolver bandmates, especially drummer Matt Sorum, who recently told Rolling Stone "I don't think the world's f—king biding their time, waiting for a Stone Temple Pilots reunion."
Weiland last spoke of the DeLeo brothers in a Metal Edge story, where he said, "I think anything they do is great. I love hearing their chord progressions … I think they're awesome guys. We've definitely worked out our issues with each other."
Velvet Revolver has not, however: Weiland didn't even show up to their Sundance performance this past Sunday.
