Sean Penn Videos
Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly have found their Stooges. The brothers, who are set to direct The Three Stooges for MGM, have cast Sean Penn to play Larry. The studio is also in negotiations with Jim Carrey to play Curly, the chubbiest of the Stooges. Carrey is planning on gaining 40 pounds in order to accurately portray the portly comedian. The studio wants Benicio del Toro to play bowl-cut sporting, Stooge leader Moe.
The film will not be a biopic about the personal lives of the slap-happy Stooges. Rather, it will be a comedy that focuses on the trio's antics. The Farrelly Brothers have spent the better part of a decade trying to make the film, having gone through three different studios. The project was set up at Columbia, then Warner Bros., and now is at MGM. It is scheduled to go into production in early fall, with a 2010 release date planned. The Farrellys wrote the script.
