Sean Penn Takes Wyclef Jean to Task Over Haitian Presidency Bid

Oscar winner and recent divorcee Sean Penn was vocal about his questions over singer Wyclef Jean's bid the presidency in Haiti months after a fatal earthquake hit Clef's native country. Jean issued his own statement in response to Penn's questions, indicating that he is firmly seriously about wanting to be the president of Haiti. I must interject here, but who would want to run a troubled country for fun? I think that 'Clef couldn't be anything but serious regarding such an arduous undertaking.
The singer also fumed when aides told him that Penn, who has been managing an earthquake-survivor camp in the Haitian capital since the spring, had accused Jean of not spending enough time in Haiti after the quake and misappropriating $400,000 of the $9 million his charity, Yele Haiti, raised after the disaster. "I just want Sean Penn to fully understand I am a Haitian, born in Haiti and I've been coming to my country ever since (I was) a child," he said. "He might just want to pick up the phone and meet, so he fully understands the man."
Penn told CNN he was skeptical of the singer's desire to run for presidency of the country, saying, "The last thing in the world Haiti needs -- and I'm not accusing Wyclef Jean of being an opportunist, I don't know the man ... I worry that this is more a campaign about flying around the world talking to people, as he said. I would be quite sure it is of an influence of businesses here in the United States. One of the things Haiti needs is a leader who is genuinely willing to sacrifice."
Penn is not the only opponent of 'Clef's decision to enter the realm of politics. His cousin and fellow Fugees member Pras is also critical of the decision. He told The Daily News in New York that he supported another candidate.
Do you think Wyclef Jean would make a good president for Haiti? Or is this bid downright ridiculous?
