Fascination with actor Steve McQueen's life is at a high. David Foster, who produced The Mask of Zorro and Collateral Damage, is working on a biopic about McQueen based on My Husband, My Friend, the memoir written by McQueen's first wife, Neile McQueen Toffel. The news comes hot on the heels of Michael Cerenzie and Christine Peters announcing that they are developing a film based on the actor's life with the cooperation of his widow, Barbara Minty, which will likely end up in the Paramount system.
Foster, who once served as McQueen's publicist, will produce, while Toffel will executive produce. The film will follow McQueen and Toffel's relationship, which began when she was a Broadway star. Father and son scribes Roderick Taylor and Bruce Taylor, who penned The Brave One, will adapt the screenplay. The writers will be given complete and total access to McQueen's estate, which is controlled by Toffel and her son, Chad McQueen.
