Casey Abrams, the bushy-haired and bearded contestant from Season 10 of American Idol, was is the subject of ARTISTdirect.com's latest installment of our exclusive See the Music series. He goes deep about the song "Simple Life," from his self-titled album, which encourages you to unplug and enjoy the non-digital things in life every once in a while.
He reveals that he came up with the idea for the song when sitting on a hammock, and he thought he would "write a song about chilling" as opposed to engaging in social media overload.
He even joked that birds were "tweeting, the real tweeting" as he relaxed on the hammock! "I thought, 'This is kind of nice every once in a while,'" he recalled. "Put down the technology and enjoy the simple life."
The song, erected on a robust bass line, is complex, despite the title and the lyrical notion, since there are lots of lyrics to remember!
