Jay Sean sat down with ARTISTdirect.com editor in chief Rick Florino to talk candidly and freely about his infectious new song "I'm All Yours," which features Pitbull.
It's no accident that the song is dropping in the summer, given its hooky, warm weather vibe.
Jay Sean said, "We timed it so it would come out for the summer. It does have that feeling. You can't help but feel happy and smile. I wanted the hook to sound so big. The soccer chants are in there. You could be anywhere–on the beach, having a picnic, in the stadium, in a nightclub. At that moment, you want to let loose and let go. That's the vibe I wanted to get that across." Oh, that vibe comes across, Jay Sean!
Jay Sean also talked about putting the soccer chant in the song, since "football" is one of the biggest sports in the world and with the Olympics coming up, he wanted to create a feeling to tie the world together and music and sports can do just that! Blessed be the ties that bind.
The song is also about love, which is unexpected, lyrically speaking. He said, "The uptempo records are usually about girls, throwing your hands up and having an aerobics workout" on the dance floor so Jay Sean so he wanted to do something original with the lyrics, to make people feel good, sing along and have fun, all the while being different! He acknowledged that a lot of his fans are too young to go to a nightclub so he wanted to be sure and reach them as well. Brilliant strategy and a rad song!
About the song and Sean, Florino comments, "Jay Sean remains one of the most dynamic and diverse singers out there. He's got the ability to bring an entire stadium to its feet, but he's also got this real sense of soul. He's one of the best out there, and his new album Worth It All is everything a classic pop album should be."
