Supremely sexy singer Jhené Aiko sent down with ARTISTdirect.com for the latest installment of our exclusive See the Music series. She opened up about her song "3:16 AM," which has plenty of numerical significance in her life.

For starters, she was born on March 16 and somehow, some way, she always catches the clock at 3:16AM, since she is an insomniac. How eerie and cool is that? That's her special number, for sure.

The track also happens to be three minutes and 16 seconds, as well.

We can't make this stuff up! Sometimes these things are more than coincidences.

Aiko talks about how the song was bare at first, but she took it home and wrote "to" it. It was comprised of just two instruments as first, and she added how she felt over top of it, going crazy and just writing, and how that aided in coming up with the end result.

Then the producers built the rest of the song around the lyrics.

The song is a sultry, mysterious, dark pop song that we can't shake for our heads. We were wide awake at 3:16AM one morning and guess what song was haunting our minds? Yep, this one!
