Selena Gomez + the Scene Sued Over the Song "A Year Without Rain"

A band named Luce is suing Selena Gomez + the Scene over their song "A Year Without Rain," the title track from their 2010 album. The plaintiffs, Tom Luce, Brian Kroll, Lawrence Riggs and Matt Blackett, claim that Selena and co. stole the chorus from Luce's 2005 song "Buy a Dog."
Luce said Gomez's song, which was co-written by Lindy Robbins and Tobby Gad, is "virtually identical" to theirs, which appeared on the group's second album Never Ending. Both Robbins and Gad were also named in the lawsuit as co-defendants. The band accused Gomez and her co-defendants of infringing on their copyright. Even though Gomez didn't write the song, they performed it and they're being named. Luce claim that their song was popular enough at local radio stations for it to have been heard and thus stolen.
