What a week it has been for new songs. From the new Frank Ocean album to Cass McCombs to Britney Spears, a ton of new material became available in the last seven days. Jimmy Eat World even got into the action premiering their new song "Get Right". Grouplove debuted "Traumatized" from their forthcoming record Big Mess. Stranger Things fans got a treat when the show's composers' band S U R V I V E unveiled "Wardenclyffe". The Gaslamp Killer also released the stirring "Warm Wind".
Empire of the Sun, the band first made famous for their song's appearance in a Honda Civic commercial, debuted "Two Vines". Speedy Ortiz's Sadie Dupuis has a solo project called Sad13, and she premiered "Get A Yes". Emo stars American Football returned with "I've Been Lost For So Long". Ryan Playground released "I Won't Sleep On You". And that was only the beginning for a week filled with impressive new songs.
Here are our favorites:
Kero Kero Bonito - "Graduation"
It's hard to believe that Kero Kero Bonito just announced their debut album, but we can't wait to hear it. This week they unveiled the first single, "Graduation". It's a gem that takes a clever, yet sophisticated look at modern education.
Serpentwithfeet - "Four Ethers"
Orchestral strings, distant brass, everytime we hear something new from seprmentwithfeet we're blown away. "Four Ethers" lyrics are also stunning, "I'm fine with you being a liar, and I'm fine with you being a killer/ I'm fine with you being suicidal, that s*** don't bother me none/ But you gotta show me yourself."
Sharon Van Etten - "Not Myself"
Sharon Van Etten's "Not Myself is about the Orlando nightclub shooting, here's what she had to say about it:
"I was home with my parents in New Jersey when I heard of the shooting at the nightclub in Florida. Hate, violence, and intolerance has always upset me, but I haven't been this overwhelmed with sadness and disbelief in a long time. The victims were only trying to be themselves and be comfortable and safe in their surroundings. That safety was violated out of fear and with a gun.
"I originally wanted to raise money for the victims and their families, but I knew the issue was bigger than this. I wrote "Not Myself" for the victims of this horrific event, but I chose to support the research and awareness work of Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund: a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence and build safer communities.
In the memory of those trying to be safe and be themselves, I hope we can all come together to help prevent another massacre like this and end gun violence.

Helena Deland - "Baby"
Helena Deland is pure gold, and with each new song we hear something new, we are more and more impressed. "Baby" is chilling, haunting, and will follow you from dusk till dawn.
Isaiah Rashad - "i mean"
We can't wait for Isaiah Rashad's forthcoming record Young Lack Sleep. The release of songs like "i mean" make the wait almost unbearable. His new track is filled with horns, a chorus, and blasting drums, in one word, it's triumphant.
