Seu Jorge has announced The Life Aquatic: A Tribute to David Bowie tour. Many may remember Jorge for his performance in Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, where he performed a variety of covers of Bowie classics in Portuguese. He also recorded a full LP of covers in 2005, The Life Aquatic Sessions. Bowie acknowledged the beauty of Jorge's covers, remarking in the Life Aquatic Sessions liner notes: "Had Seu Jorge not recorded my songs in Portuguese, I would never have heard this new level of beauty which he has imbued them with,"" reported Rolling Stone. The Brazilian musician most recently released Músicas para Churrasco, Vol. 2 in 2015.
Seu Jorge's North American tour will begin November 4th in Miami, Florida. With a total of 13 dates scheduled, concerts will be performed in Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto, San Francisco, and many other cities. Jorge will play two nights at New York City's Town Hall, November 11th and 12th. The tour will come to a close on November 26th at The Theatre at Ace Hotel on November 26th.
David Bowie passed away this past January. He died from liver cancer two days after his 69th birthday which was also the release day of his 25th and final studio album Blackstar. The news of his passing came as a surprise to many as he had not publicized his illness. Blackstar became Bowie's first album to reach number one on the Billboard 200.
