Sia Reveals 2010 Suicide Attempt

Australian singer/songwriter Sia Furler, who is known as "Sia" and has penned hits, in behind-the-scenes fashion, for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Britney Spears, admitted she became depressed in 2010 while battling a drug and alcohol addiction. She contemplated suicide at that time, as well.
She told The New York Times that she wrote a note to her dog walker, and added another to the manager of the hotel where she planned to commit suicide, writing, "I've killed myself and I don't want you to have to suffer seeing my dead body."
Oh man, that's heavy. She was on the road and feeling down.
Thankfully, she got a call from a friend and that made all the difference, but she recalled that time in her life, saying, "I was in the back lounge, high on Xanax and alcohol, watching every episode of E.R. from the beginning. When you're in a different place every day (on the road), there's this kind of madness that sets in. It's easy to get away with getting high, because everybody's drinking on the road. None of my friends thought I was an alcoholic, and neither did I."
Thankfully, Sia got sober and refocused her energies. "In my sobriety. I have discovered that the people I love, and who hurt me, were sick like me... Workaholism. That's my new jam," she said.
Hear Sia's new song, "Chandelier," below. A new album is due this summer.
