Sigur Rós is already set to head out on a North American tour this fall. However, the band is already preparing for 2017. They have now confirmed three Los Angeles concerts, where they will appear alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Hall.
Consequence of Sound reports, "Scheduled for April 13th to 15th, the shows mark the first time Sigur Rós have performed publicly with an orchestra since their gigs in support of their unreleased Odin's Raven Magic over a decade ago. The band is expected to play "career-spanning sets including fan-favorites (with orchestral accompaniment) and — 'if things go to plan' — new, unreleased music (without orchestra).""
The concerts are "part of LA Philharmonic's larger Reykjavík Festival, which is "an exploration of the eclectic Icelandic music scene, highlighting the creativity thriving in Reykjavík and covering a wide spectrum of music, from chamber, choral and symphonic to pop music," adds the outlet.
Sigur Ros is currently on tour in Europe playing a variety of festivals, including Budhapest's Sziget Festival, Zurich's Openair, and Paris' Rock en Siene. The band will head to North America in September, starting with two gigs in Vancouver on September 18th and 19th. From there they will head out across the continent making stops in Seattle, Denver, Chicago, New York City, and many more before ending the concert series' North American leg at the Treasure Island Festival in San Francisco, California.
