Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall has it covered. He is going it alone for his debut solo record American Soul, available October 29 on Razor & Tie.
American Soul features unique covers of Hucknall's favorite American soul music of the late '50s and early '60s, including tracks by Otis Redding, Etta James, Ray Charles and many more.
We love a British singer showing his American soul.
"I was brought up on American soul and have such a deep appreciation for the music," said Hucknall. "I've been listening to most of these songs since I was 5 or 6 years old but it took working with Ron Wood and the Faces and with Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman's bands to make me remember how much I love singing these old-school soul and R&B songs. Those guys certainly played a part in inspiring me to make this album."
