Fan boys patiently waiting for the follow up to 2005's visually stunning Sin City may have to wait a little bit longer. Rumors are circulating that the rights to the sequel to the graphic novel are being shopped around Tinsel Town, indicating that Dimension Films no longer maintains the property's rights. However, The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films continue to claim that they still hold the rights to any sequel that may move forward.
Outside producers, on the other hand, claim that the rights have been shopped to them by reps for the estate of author Frank Miller. No one knows the firm details on whether or not the rights have lapsed, but it wouldn't be shocking, since there has not been much activity or development on a second film, which is often required to keep rights active for the current holder.
