Slash, the top hat-wearing former guitarist for Guns N' Roses, will be scoring This is Not a Movie, an English-language film that was financed with Mexican funds. The film, written by Olallo Rubio, will be shot in both Mexico City and Las Vegas.
Slash described the film as "cutting edge, artistic, and trippy" to Mojo magazine. Rubio claimed that Slash was perfect to score the film due to his ability to create emotional music and use effects in order to explore different sounds, since the film invites an eclectic, psychedelic score.
In other musicians-in-movies news, songbird Mariah Carey hopes to erase all memories of 2001's abysmal Glitter with her performance in Tennessee, where'll she play Krystal, a waitress whose dreams of a singing career are crushed when she finds herself trapped in a bad marriage. Vivendi Entertainment recently acquired the film's domestic rights. Tennessee is the story of two brothers who hit the road in order to resolve financial and physical problems. They meet Carey's character along the way. The film will hit theaters in December.
