To write script for Amy Adams rom-com

    Slumdog Scribe Celebrating Leap Year

Slumdog Millionaire scribe Simon Beaufoy is going to follow up a stellar year with a leap year. The writer, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on Slumdog, has been hired to write the script for Leap Year, a romantic comedy starring Amy Adams. Adams is nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her turn as a young nun in Doubt.

In the film, Adams will play a buttoned up woman who follows an Irish tradition where women propose to their men on Leap Year Day, February 29. Adams' character will travel to Dublin to take part in the tradition, only to have the weather derail her trip, forcing her to rely on an innkeeper to help her get across the country to make her proposal.

Beaufoy will work off of an earlier draft of the script. This is Beaufoy's second time working with Adams, as he previously wrote the script for the Adams-starring Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day.
