Funk music legend Sly Stone, of Sly & the Family Stone, pleaded not guilty to possession of cocaine rocks on Wednesday. Stone, 68, was apprehended on April 1 by cops in LA who pulled over a live-in vehicle for a traffic infraction. Then they found the drugs.
Cocaine rocks were found in the clothing of both Stone, who was a passenger, and the driver, according to the singer's defense attorneys. Both men were arrested at that time.
So, just how the hell can Stone plead not guilty to possession cocaine rocks, when they were found on his person? Well, his lawyer found a creative way to spin it, which involves his career associations! "A lot of musicians hang out with people who have drugs. How are they supposed to know?" said Peter Knecht, one of his attorneys.
The legal eagle contends that the cocaine did not belong to Stone.
What do you think of Sly Stone's plea? Are you a fan of his music? Do you even care about his legal troubles?
