Snoop Dogg, RZA, and Common are set to voice themselves on a special one hour episode of "The Simpsons". A few months ago the Fox cartoon show announced they would be doing a hip hop homage to F. Scott Fitzgerald's Great Gatsby. The episode is titled "The Great Phatsby," and is set to run in January.
Entertainment Weekly were the first to spread the news, and also announced Taraji P. Henson and Keegan-Michael Key will also be appearing in the episode. The episode will feature original songs written by Jim Beanz, who produces music for "Empire".
The episode will revolve around the friendship between Mr. Burns and a hip-hop mogul name Jay G. Homer will narrate the tale, playing the role of Nick Carraway, which takes place at Burns' summer mansion in the Springfield Hamptons. Burns and Jay G will become friends before Jay G sends Burns into bankruptcy and takes control of the nuclear plant, prompting Burns, Homer, Bart, and Jazzy James (Key) to exact revenge on the hip-hop mogul.
"The Simpsons" executive producer Matt Selman told Entertainment Weekly, "It's a tale of greed, excess, betrayal, revenge, and ruthlessness, and there's a hilarious goose in it. The goose is really funny."
Back in November, Common released his eleventh studio album Black America Again. Snoop Dogg also released a new record this year, entitled Coolaid.
