Song Review: Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour — "X-M@$"
Fri, 03 Dec 2010 11:57:08
Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor rips Christmas a new one—with a smile of course.
On his brand new holiday single "X-M@$", Taylor channels Social Distortion, burning through a punk-y refrain and some of the host hilarious lyrics you've ever heard. He chants "If I ain't drunk, then it ain't Christmas," while a ragged riff charges Santa's sleigh through a bar. Taylor nods to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin's Christmas classics of yesteryear, by putting his own clever, crazy and catchy spin on the Christmas anthem. Of course he's got some quick one-liners that particularly punch—namely, "Those colored lights are fucking infantile"—and then a little advice for everyone, "Let's buy some peace and quiet for a change before we spend it all on fucking toys!"
Taylor channels Mike Patton and Mike Ness, while infusing the song with his own twisted, brilliant sense of humor. It's the ultimate Chrismas song, and the one thing you need to buy this holiday season. Don't eat any yellow snow, instead crack open a beer and crank Corey "Fuckin'" Taylor's "X-M@$" all the fucking way up!
