Singer and songwriter returns with mountainous melodies on "Sleep When We Die."
Every journey starts with one step. For Kenna, "Sleep When We Die" isn't just a step, it's a leap ahead towards his next project Songs For Flight. Throughout his career, the Ethiopian-American indie singer and songwriter has collaborated with everybody from Pharrell Williams to Justin Timberlake and Pusha T back in the Clipse days. You might recall the Grammy Award nominee climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro a couple years ago during his Scale the Summit program with Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch, and Lupe Fiasco. However, his music is progressing immensely with the release of "Sleep When We Die."
The elegantly architected song embraces a guitar swing and organic percussion that's bright and propulsive. However, it's his voice that transfixes the most. He takes the mic with a confidence, charisma, and characteristic sense of soul. You'll be singing along, but it'll make you think too. Moreover, the single cover is the work of National Geographic Photographer Keith Ladzinkski. Its imagery of climbing Kilimanjaro mirrors Kenna's journey in a few ways. He's ascending new musical summits here and delivering something that touches the heavens.
He'll be revealing more about Songs For Flight soon, but listen here for now. You should be very excited for this one.
