Lizzy Plapinger emerges as alternative pop's ultimate soul siren.
Hot on the heels of "Painted," MS MR ignite another elegantly entrancing track with the newly released "Wrong Victory." The New York pair—Lizzy Plapinger [vocals] and Max Hershenow [producer]—architect a moody and moving anthem that properly paves the way for their new album HOW DOES IT FEEL [Columbia] out July 17.The synths, piano, and drums bubble just beneath the surface as Plapinger's voice remains utterly striking during the verses. Her delivery captivates from the moment that the song kicks off, but it really blossoms into a thing of beauty on the hook.
The frontwoman manages to siphon a serious sense of soul into this evocative and ethereal sonic backdrop, adding real heart to the electronic aura. As a result, "Wrong Victory" sounds like nothing else you'll hear on the radio right now. That's what makes it so special.
She croons, "This body only knows how to hold back more than it shows," and you can't shake her words. Plapinger emerges as alternative pop's ultimate soul siren here. They've got a real triumph with "Wrong Victory" and HOW DOES IT FEEL will be one of the year's best.
