Atlanta rap god teams up with pop punk luminaries for Pixels anthem.
For the Pixels soundtrack, Waka Flocka Flame teamed up with Good Charlotte and made the ultimate video game anthem—"Game On." The track actually feels like it could've pulsated through a classic Nintendo or Sega Genesis game, and that's what makes it so undeniably, uniquely, and unequivocally fun. Waka's gruff delivery and inimitable verses stomp along as if he was crushing Koopas in Super Mario or gobbling up fruit in Pac-Man. It sounds like he's having a blast, and his fast, fiery flow burns on impact in the best way possible.
He drops the flames with, "I'm racin' against nothin' but time, probably wouldn't be so lost if you was watchin' the signs. They gon' play me like a PlayStation from playin' on that station, but I'm a be the face of a generation."
It doesn't get much doper than that as he brings some of that Atlanta heat into cyberspace. Waka's always been able to adapt to any situation and the bleep-bloop production here is a long way from the booming 808s and synths of Southern Trap. He makes it his though. At the same time, the Good Charlotte boys carry a simmering and striking hook, marrying two genres and approaches like never before.
It's "Game On," and Waka and Good Charlotte have turned up with one of the summer's biggest, brightest, and best anthems. Pixels hits theaters July 24!
