ARTISTdirect.com are featuring Lullwater’s "Tug of War," which will appear on their self-titled album due out this spring. So get to know Lullwater know and shake off the doldrums of winter a little early!
The band hails from the onetime college rock mecca of Athens, Georgia, but Lullwater hotfooted it to Seattle to record the album. The song certainly has a gloomy guitar tone, long associated with the Pacific Northwest, to it, which we like. Nah, we actually LOVE it.
The band sequestered itself at London Bridge Studios, where Pearl Jam's Ten and Soundgarden's Louder Than Love, two magnum opuses, were recorded. Rhythm guitarist John Strickland said, "The Seattle scene was like a mythological place where all of these amazing musicians came out of. I told the guys we needed to go there to record. We aimed to bring Athens to Seattle. Being there definitely changed us. It brought us a lot closer together, and we found the sound we'd always wanted."
Take a listen to the sound that they always wanted to make.
