Soul singer Merry Clayton was involved in a bad car wreck in Los Angeles earlier this month. Her manager has confirmed that the singer, who sang backup for Ray Charles and The Rolling Stones, has a long road to recovery ahead of her. But she is up for it. That's our gal!

Clayton, whose work was documented in the Oscar-winning film 20 Feet From Stardom, suffered "major trauma to her lower extremities," according to reports. Now, manager Alan Abrahams said, "It's a very serious situation. She's feisty, and she's with us. She's gonna make it."

Amen to that! We are sending our prayers and good thoughts out to Merry Clayton as she recovers.

Will you listen to Merry Clayton's music in light of her accident? YOU NEED TO! She is a gem.
