In a scintillating new interview with Spin, Soundgarden bassist Ben Shepherd has revealed that he is "totally broke" and technically homeless. Perhaps that fact of his life can be changed since the grunge kings have recently reunited and that alone can improve Shepherd's station in life.

Shepherd says that he technically homeless after breaking up with his girlfriend and has resorted to sleeping wherever he can, which includes couches and the kindness of friends. He replied, "Nowhere. Literally. I've been sleeping on studio couches and at friends' houses. I'm totally broke," when asked where he is living. Hey, there is something to be said about the freedom of a nomadic lifestyle, no? If Soundgarden continues to tour, he will not technically need an abode, right?

Shepherd makes another bombshell revelation in the article, saying he turned to painkillers and got a nasty addiction to the meds after the band broke up. He said, "My whole life seemed over. Soundgarden broke up; my other band, Hater, broke up; my fiancée broke up with me; and then I broke three ribs. I got addicted to pain pills, drank a ton, and wound up OD'ing on morphine. I was laid out in my house for five days." Yikes. The only consolation, Ben, is that there is nowhere to go but up.

Would you let Ben Shepherd crash on your couch?
