Billboard.com is reporting that the recently reunited grunge force known as Soundgarden will play an intimate club show at Seattle's Showbox in their hometown tonight. At press time, it is not known if the event is open to the public.
The line-up of vocalist Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron has been rehearsing in Seattle in recent weeks in preparation for their confirmed reunion performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago in early August.
Cameron still plays drums with fellow grunge icons Pearl Jam, who will be touring in North American and Europe through July, so Soundgarden are said to be planning their activity around the skinsman's schedule.
There is also no confirmation regarding plans to record new material. However, the band will re-release its first seven-inch single, "Hunted Down" b/w "Nothing to Say," on Saturday as part of Record Store Day, a national event which celebrates the indie retailer AKA "Not Best Buy." The seven-inch was initially issued in 1987.
If you are in Seattle, are you already waiting in line for this gig? Or are you headed to Lollapalooza in Chicago? Think the band will play "Jesus Christ Pose?" They have to!
