The Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark musical, which has been dubbed the most expensive Broadway production ever, will now open on January 11, 2011 instead of its planned December 21, 2010 opening. Previews will now begin on November 28, pushed back from November 11.

In a statement, lead producer Michael Cohl said, "Shows like ours, that embrace the challenge of opening on Broadway without an out-of-town tryout, often need to adjust their schedules along the way." Safety inspectors for the New York State Department of Labor reportedly visited the production after an actor broke his wrists in a stunt. So there were some issues.

The musical features music from U2's The Edge and Bono.

Are you planning to see the Spider-Man musical this Winter?
