In just a few days Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America, will be leaving the office he held for 8 years, and will be unemployed. However, Spotify have spotted a niche for a man with the rarefied skillset that Obama has acquired, and have urged him to apply for a job.
Recently Obama had joked about working at Spotify when he leaves the White House. The US President teased that he was looking for a gig at the Swedish company, telling former Swedish ambassador Mark Brzezinski last week: "I'm still waiting for my job at Spotify."
The diplomat's wife, writer Natalia Brzezinski, recently relayed the exchange between the two men in a post on Instagram. "I loved visiting you in Stockholm, it was my favourite trip," he said, referring to his 2013 trip there. "I plan to go back there really soon." Obama then suggested that there might be a place for him at Spotify, joking that Daniel Ek and company would offer him a job "Cuz' I know y'all loved my playlist."
Now the Spotify CEO has tweeted a job posting for the role of 'President of Playlists‘ to Obama. The mock vacancy calls for someone who has "at least eight years experience running a highly-regarded nation."
For two years running, Obama has shared playlists of his favourite summer songs which have included tracks by Edward Sharpe, Leon Bridges, and Janelle Monae as well as classics by the Beach Boys and Nina Simone. The President has also previously posted his Christmas and gym workout playlists.
