Atlanta crooner is ready to take over R&B.
Mark our words, Jacquees is on the fast track to conquering R&B and becoming its new king. You may have already heard the Atlanta singer and songwriter's striking voice on his chart-topping independent EP, 19, or on "Soldier" from last year's best hip-hop work Rich Gang's Tha Tour – Part 1. Now, he's dropped "Come Thru" [feat. Rich Homie Quan] and readying more music for Cash Money Records.
Jacquees has an ultra-smooth voice that's evocative of classic genre crooners. He can carry a falsetto like nobody's business, but he's also got this modern swagger that drives "Come Thru," singing, "Call me your Willy Wonka." It's an undeniable and fresh refrain. With Birdman dropping that "Rich Gang" line in between, codifying his arrival into the ranks of the elite, and Rich Homie Quan's incendiary guest spot, this is a powerhouse anthem.
As R&B continues to morph and change incorporating all kinds of alternative futurism, this is a welcome addition into the timeless canon of no-nonsense, yet popping production and infectious unbridled, unfiltered hooks. Jacquees is headed for superstardom.
