Los Angeles singer is readying new EP Is There Only One?, but you need to start paying attention to her ghost pop sound now!
Lena Fayre conjures up a delightful hybrid of indie, alternative, and pop that we're going to very fondly dub "Ghost Pop." That's because it haunts in the most wonderful way. The Los Angeles singer and songwriter will release her new independent EP, Is There Only One?, on July 24. She's drummed up countless views and plays on YouTube and Spotify, while her first EP drew immense praise. You've got to really start paying attention to her now, if you haven't been, because she's on to something that's both immediate and inimitable.
New single "Colors of Leaving" is a key track from Is There Only One?. The track's got a lively musical backdrop that pairs together swooning and swirling synths with a stark percussive hum. Over this soundscape, her voice instantly transfixes. She's got a massive range that's undeniable, but she can also carry an orchestral hook with a poppy precision. It's the middle ground between avant garde and ready for radio domination. She owns the space entirely too. You can hear this potent juxtaposition for yourself below.
Listen To "Colors of Leaving" from Lena Fayre:
Pop has seen its fair share of dark horses or unexpected anti-hero stars whether it's Florence + the Machine or Lorde. However, there's something very special about Lena Fayre. She doesn't have an inkling of coalescing to any sort of mainstream whim, but rather drawing it right to her like a magnet and never letting go. This is the next movement. This Lena's "Ghost Pop," as we like to call it.
