St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark, will be making her directorial debut with the upcoming all-female-helmed horror movie XX, reports Stereogum. The four part anthology film's tagline is "Four deadly tales by four deadly women." Stereogum goes on to add, "She co-wrote her segment, which is scheduled to start filming this spring. The film is being produced by Roxanne Benjamin, who was also behind the anthology series V/H/S, and the other directors include Karyn Kusama, Jennifer Lynch, and Jovanka Vuckovic. No word on what Clark's segment will be about or when the film will be released (maybe in time for Halloween!), though all the stories will revolve female protagonists. Here's a frustratingly vague press quote from Clark: "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to explore the genre-film medium.""
The Wrap reports, "XX is a female-driven horror anthology that gives each director full creative license to tell any story they choose, so long as it revolves around a female protagonist. While the directors have been given free creative rein within budget and time constraints, all of the segments themselves will involve the horror genre."
Back in 2015, Clark won the GRAMMY for Best Alternative Music Album, for her fifth studio album, St. Vincent. She was the first woman in 20 years to win the award. There has been no announcement about her next album at this time, and she has no tour dates scheduled.
