    • Staind - In some ways, Staind's triumphant set at "Epicenter 2011" is emblematic of their journey. They were never into press posturing, awards show bullshit, or trying to be something they're not. They write timeless songs like "Eyes Wide Open", "Spleen", "Mudshovel", and "Something to Remind You" and kick teeth in when they hit stage. Isn't that everything a hard rock band should do? Well, they do it better than anyone… - Rick Florino

Staind frontman Aaron Lewis wants NFL's Colin Kaepernick to be fined for refusing to stand during national anthem.

In protest at the way African-Americans are treated by law enforcement and the wider community the San Francisco 49'ers quarterback has been sitting or kneeling during the national anthem at his team's NFL games. His move has stirred a nationwide debate, a number of celebrities and sports stars have vocally supported his protest, and other NFL players have followed suit and taken a knee during the national anthem. However, a number of other players and celebrities have verbally attacked Kaepernick, and consider his actions disrespectful of the American flag, the police, military and the NFL.

In a recent trip to the Castlemont Highschool team in Oakland - who had shown support of his protest by forming their own; laying on their backs with their arms raised during the national anthem - Kaepernick said "You are important. You make a difference. This matters...Everything you do matters."

Aaron Lewis, who describes himself as a conservative Republican, has had his say on the issue. Lewis spoke out on Radio.com: "It absolutely infuriates me. And it makes me even more angry that the NFL, which is so intertwined into this nation, is allowing it to take place... that they're not benching him, they're not financially penalising him every time he doesn't stand....That is a direct slap against the country that makes the NFL as great as it is. And for the NFL to just sit back and allow him to do that without any sort of penalty or repercussion, I don't understand that."
