Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, two founding members of Creedence Clearwater Revival, have declared that they will never, ever reunite with frontman John Fogerty. It's too little, too late for them, as Fogerty extended an olive branch their way last year, saying he'd sit down long enough to listen to the discussion and proposal of a reunion.
Fogerty quit the band in 1971, when they were at the apex of their fame. He's been engaged in a verbal battle with Cook and Clifford ever since.
Cook told Uncut that "leopards don't change their spots. This is just an image-polishing exercise by John. My phone certainly hasn't rung." Clifford conceded that "it might have been a nice idea 20 years ago, but it's too late."
Okay, so hopes are dashed, fan dreams are crushed. They are not having any of it. But maybe C+C should consider how much cash they could rake in by reuniting with Fogerty, not to mention the rock 'n' roll joy they'd bring to their fans' lives. Just sayin'.
Do you hope and pray that Cook, Clifford and Fogerty can somehow, some miraculous way bury the hatchet?
